Greetings AVHA Families!

   As we enter the final month of summer, your AVHA Board of Directors has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming hockey season!  I have a couple of items that I want to briefly share with you as we head into the fall:

AVHA has added a low cost training opportunity for travelling players in the month of August.  We will be holding training sessions at Hayes Arena each Tuesday and Thursday morning in the month of August.  The sessions will be run by AVHS coaches and are a great opportunity to get back in hockey shape for a LOW COST!  Cost for all 9 sessions is $25.00, so if your player only makes a couple of sessions, the value is still great! Registration will be opening soon, we are pleased to announce that we still have some of the lowest registration costs in the state for our players!  Travelling registration will remain at $149.00 for the season, Mites will be $99.00 and Mini Mites will be $49.00.  As always, new players pay no registration their first season so please encourage interested players and parents to give us a try!

After much discussion at the Board level, AVHA will not be hosting our November and January tournaments this season.  This is a one year trial and will lower your volunteer requirements for the course of the season.  We may host a district tournament and will keep you updated on that by parent meetings in September.

CALLING ALL COACHES!  If you are interested in coaching this season, please fill out a coaching application on the AVHA website outlining which team and at what level (head or assistant) you are interested in coaching.  Our Coaches Committee will be conducting interviews with head coaching candidates beginning in August.

As always, we are working to provide all of our players their best development opportunity.  I want to let all AVHA families know that we will find a team for all of our players.  We will not cut any player who wants to play!
